Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research

An inspiration to those who know his story, Terry Fox began the “Marathon of Hope” across Canada in order to raise awareness and funds for a cure for cancer. To honor his memory, this 5K is an amazing event geared towards raising money for continued research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and continued pursuit for such a cure. Columbia University DPT students are passionate about service, and actively work to add value to communities both near and far through volunteerism and outreach projects. Our student run group, Physical Therapy - Community Action Network (PT-CAN), exists to facilitate our involvement in projects that allow us to reach out to those in need, especially through the application of our professional training as student physical therapists.

By participating in programs such as pro-bono clinics and public health education campaigns we are able to not only make a difference within our community, but also gain professional experience and growth beyond the classroom, and are gifted with reminders of why we have chosen a career as healers and caregivers.
