It was high noon on May 16th. PT students squared off against PT Faculty at the Bard Hall Basketball court. Tension was high, the competition was fast and furious. However, there was some controversy as to the final outcome. There was no official scorekeeper; reported results are strictly anecdotal and unconfirmed.
There seemed to be some agreement that students won the first half; faculty the second. One faculty member offered this game recap: "Only the second half of the game was scored. We were in the lead by 5-7 points going into the end of the second half. [The students] brought out their all-guys team and closed the gap; we were tied by the end of the game." Dr. Jean Timmerberg is credited with the "game-winning" layup.
Faculty comments the following day ranged from "I can't walk down stairs; it's awesome", to " My Aleve is barely taking the edge off…", and "my usual 12 minute walk to the garage took me 24 minutes last night…I hope we all recover before the students start screaming for a rematch". From the student side: "I think it would be really good to focus on the morale building and students/professor relationships building through healthy competition".
Congratulations to all on a great game. And we look forward to next year's rematch!
